Bluffton’s fall festival season is officially underway, and Roots & Rivers helped set the tone.

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, families, music lovers, entrepreneurs, and visitors gathered at Oyster Factory Park for an unforgettable day of culture, commerce, and community. The turnout was tremendous, the energy was joyful, and the Lowcountry showed once again that our celebrations are not just events on a calendar, but powerful opportunities to connect, support one another, and build what comes next.

Roots & Rivers 2026: A Celebration That Carried the Community Forward

Roots & Rivers brought our mission to life through music, family activities, local food, and a Cultural Marketplace filled with Black-owned businesses and local artisans. Guests shopped handmade goods, discovered new brands, enjoyed food from local vendors, and shared an atmosphere that welcomed every generation.

The festival was not just a gathering, but a fundraiser for our parent organization, BlacQuity. BlacQuity creates resources and opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and the wider community, helping turn connection into long-term economic empowerment.

The day’s success was made possible by our volunteers, sponsors, vendors, performers, and community partners. We are grateful to every person who helped build the experience, greeted guests, supported a small business, donated time, or shared the festival with friends and family.

Stee & The Ear Candy Band Had Oyster Factory Park Moving

Music was at the heart of the celebration. Stee & The Ear Candy Band rocked the stage with the Motown, R&B, Blues, and soul sounds that brought the crowd together and gave the festival its unmistakable soundtrack.

Their performance connected generations. Parents, grandparents, young adults, and children experienced the power of live music in a scenic waterfront setting. Roots & Rivers is not just a Motown and R&B music festival, but a cultural experience where the sounds of yesterday continue inspiring the community of tomorrow.

The live entertainment also reinforced why Bluffton is such a special destination for live music in Bluffton SC. Here, music is often enjoyed outdoors, alongside neighbors, local businesses, and the natural beauty of the Lowcountry.

The Cultural Marketplace Put Black-Owned Businesses in the Spotlight

The Cultural Marketplace was one of the festival’s most meaningful attractions. Black entrepreneurs and local artisans brought their products, stories, and creativity to Oyster Factory Park, offering guests an opportunity to shop with purpose.

From handcrafted products and apparel to food, art, wellness items, and other original goods, the marketplace reflected the talent and innovation found throughout the Lowcountry. It was not just a shopping area, but a direct investment in the people shaping our region’s future.

The Kids Zone Made Roots & Rivers a Family Favorite

Families found plenty to enjoy in the Kids Zone, which offered activities designed to keep children engaged, creative, and active. Highlights included a petting zoo, face painting, Coach J’s Mobile Hoops, Paint & Plant, sweet treats, and other family-friendly experiences.

These activities helped make Roots & Rivers one of the season’s most welcoming choices for family friendly activities in Bluffton. Children had space to play and explore while parents enjoyed the music, marketplace, food trucks, and community atmosphere.

The Kids Zone was not just entertainment for children, but an invitation to introduce the next generation to the value of culture, creativity, entrepreneurship, and shared celebration.

The next major stop is BlufftemberFest, taking place at Oyster Factory Park on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Presented by the Society of Bluffton Artists as part of the Sunset Party Series, BlufftemberFest is the series finale and a lively Oktoberfest-style celebration.

Lowcountry Fish & Grits Music Festival , October 3, 2026

After Roots & Rivers and BlufftemberFest, the next cultural-music stop in the Lowcountry is the Lowcountry Fish & Grits Music Festival, happening on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 12:00–6:00 PM at Lowcountry Celebration Park, 94 Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928. For anyone planning a Bluffton and Hilton Head fall getaway, this family-friendly one-day celebration is a strong addition to the season’s festival lineup.

Founded by Bluffton native and Gullah Geechee recording artist Latrese Bush, the festival debuted in 2023 and now draws visitors from across the country. Its mission is to raise awareness of Gullah Geechee culture, highlight its evolution, and explore its connection to the African diaspora. That makes it not just another Saturday outing, but a pivotal opportunity to experience the living cultural traditions that continue shaping the Lowcountry.

Guests can expect a vibrant program of music spanning R&B, jazz, funk, folk, spoken word, and Gullah Geechee ring shouters, alongside a marketplace of artisans and vendors showcasing Gullah Geechee art, food, clothing, and crafts. From October 9 through 18, 2026, the 22nd Annual Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival will celebrate Lowcountry foodways, art, music, and heritage.

The festival’s signature Street Fest takes place October 17–18 in Historic Old Town Bluffton, featuring more than 100 juried artists, local culinary offerings, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
